With great passion and an innovative spirit, BBC Bircher Smart Access develops modern convenience and safety systems for your automatic gates and doors. While loop detectors, microwave motion detectors and infrared motion detectors provide the opening pulse, safety edges and presence detectors protect the primary and secondary closing edges. Furthermore, BBC Bircher Smart Access also offers a wide range of radio and induction signal transmission systems.

Detectors for automatic doors

PrimeTec A protects and opens

Tried-and-tested radar technology is used for opening automatic doors. The active infrared curtain used for person protection is self-monitoring (in acc. with DIN 18650) and is tested every time before the door panel closes. Various functions can be set according to the situation, for example: the field geometry of the active infrared curtain and of the radar or crossing traffic masking to aviod false activation.

PrimeTec B protects and opens

Tried-and-tested radar technology is used for opening automatic doors. The active infrared curtain, which protects people, can be used in place of a light barrier. Various functions can be set according to the situation, for example, the field geometry of the active infrared curtain and of the radar.

PrimeScan A monitors the secondary closing edge

The active infrared curtain ensures optimum protection of the area at the side of the door. It protects people in the danger area of the opening door panel.

PrimeScan B monitors the secondary closing edge

Tried-and-tested radar technology is used for opening automatic doors. The active infrared curtain, which protects people, can be used in place of a light barrier. Various functions can be set according to the situation, for example, the field geometry of the active infrared curtain and of the radar.

PrimeMotion B opens and saves energy

The activation sensor, which is based on radar technology, reliably opens sliding doors and prevents unnecessarily long opening times thanks to direction recognition.

PrimeMotion C - Simple, reliable, practical

PrimeMotion C is a simple microwave motion detector in an elegant, small housing.

  • Practical and versatile: One device, also for particularly tall and wide doors
  • Wide range of applications: The adjustable field geometry and the radar module that can be tilted and swivelled mean the door activation can be optimally adjusted to the flow of persons traffic
  • Short startup: Quick and easy startup with potentiometer

Merkur 2

The innovative all-rounder

Thanks to its extremely high versatility, Merkur 2 leads the way and can be used on virtually any type of automatic door. With its totally reliable detection, Merkur 2 provides a smooth flow of people and also ensures savings on energy and costs! The intelligent sensor system has an optional direction recognition and thereby makes sure that the door only opens when people are approaching or leaving. The door closes again immediately afterwards. For escape and emergency exits, the Merkur 2 ES.SM version is fitted with a built-in self-monitoring device.

Hi-tech 'wonder' with dual field planar module

The second generation of Merkur is available with a radar field that is more symmetric and more sharply differentiated than before. Switching between wide or narrow field can be done fully electronically by remote control or by push-buttons on the sensor. Thus, Merkur 2 is adjusted and ready to operate extremely quickly.

PIR 20

Reliable technology for activation

PIR Motion Detectors do not emit any rays as indicated by their name Passive Infrared Motion Detector. When an object with a surface temperature other than that of the environment enters the detection area, its heat radiation is directed via lenses on sensor elements and triggers a switching operation.

PIR 30

Ideal for detecting people

PIR motion detectors do not emit any rad ia - tion themselves, as indicated by their name of Passive Infrared Motion Detector. As soon as an object with a surface temper ature different to its surroundings enters the detection area of a PIR motion detector, lenses deflect its thermal radiation onto sensor elements and a switching operation is triggered.

CleanSwitch

Contact-free switch for convenient activation

CleanSwitch provides a contact-free, hygienic method of opening doors. It works by means of a deliberate hand gesture within the detection range of 10 to 50 centimetres helping to stop germs in their tracks. Thanks to its attractive design featuring coloured LED feedback, CleanSwitch is an appealing, user-friendlyaddition to its environment. It takes just a few minutes to get the activation switch up and running and installation can be carried out in any standard flush-mounted box.

UniScan

Highest level of safety for everyday operation

Safety for every entrance - UniScan provides safety wherever people enter and exit every day. The UniScan's dense detection field offers the greatest possible protection, even for small children and people with impaired mobility.

Quick and easy installation

UniScan will convince you not only due to its high level of safety, but it also reduces the installation and start up time. All it takes is one keystroke and the device is taught and set - fully automated. Thanks to its slender and elegant design with small dimensions, the sensor is unobtrusive and can also be used when space is at a premium.

TopScan

Punctual detection

The TopScan presence detector is used for reliably detecting stationary and moving objects. As such, its main task is to prevent any contact with the moving doors, whether it be from people, animals or objects. However, it may also be used as an opening sensor.

Easy installation and a modern, versatile design

This product stands out not only by boasting the smallest design in its class, but also by virtue of its practical installation concept. An easy and quick installation saves time and takes the hassle out of the process. Its elegant aluminium profile is naturally available in a number of colours and suits every door design. The sensor is available in the required lengths and features a varying number of beams.

SpotScan

Safe on the spot

SpotScan has been proven as a really versatile all-rounder. In stationary operating mode it provides protection against entrapment at shearing edges of automatic revolving and swing doors. In the door ride-on type of application (mobile operating mode), it is installed as a collision prevention device. With sliding and curved sliding doors SpotScan monitors the main and secondary closing edges. Additionally it features a test input.

For a wide range of applications

Thanks to its compact design and the extensive accessory range the SpotScan can be adapted to suit any type of installation. It is suitable for counting people in confined spaces and picks-up the presence of objects or people on escalators and in elevators. Amongst other areas it can also be installed in making occupancy checks of people in security locks.

Herkules 2 - Microwave motion detector for industrial doors

Universally applicable

The Herkules 2 microwave motion detector has been specifically developed for use with industrial doors. It detects, differentiates between or masks out people or vehicles and can switch the output relays separately, depending on the requirement.

First class, tried-and-tested

Herkules 2 is a logical further refinement of our successful microwave detectors that are also used for automatic doors. Our wealth of experience, combined with progressive planar technology, gives Herkules 2 a considerable range of functions and reliability.
